All you need to know about this movie is that a rocket powered turtle is fighting to keep earth safe from squid people riding in a bumble bee striped space ship. This is probably the best film to hit Invasion Cinema, a true epic.

A group of aliens from another planet head for Earth with the intentions of conquering it. Their first ship is destroyed in transit by the giant flying turtle Gamera. A second ship makes it to Earth and captures two Boy Scouts and holds them captive so that Gamera will not attack them. The aliens then implant a remote control device into the monster's neck and use the great turtle to attack Tokyo. The boys then come up with a plan to foul up the remote control device to the point where Gamera does the opposite of what he is ordered to. As a result Gamera destroys the aliens ship, but then has to contend with their giant squid like leader Viras.

The wise grandmother, however, comes back and the girl finds the warmth of her grandmother's loving arms again. Trnka's artistic ideas in this film can be described as both poetically fragile and dramatically cautionary." Directed by Jirí Trnka, 1962.

Santa Claus Conquers the Martians (also titled Santa Claus Defeats the Aliens) is a 1964 science fiction film that regularly appears on lists of the worst films ever made. It is regularly featured in the "bottom 100" list on the Internet Movie Database. It was directed by Nicholas Webster, and it stars John Call as Santa Claus. It also includes an 8-year-old Pia Zadora playing the role of one of the Martian children.

The story involves the denizens of the planet Mars, including Momar ("Mom Martian") and Kimar ("King Martian") who are worried that their children Girmar ("Girl Martian") and Bomar ("Boy Martian") are watching too much Earth television, most notably station KID's interview with Santa Claus in his workshop at the North Pole. Consulting the ancient 800-year old Martian sage Chochem, they are advised that the children of Mars are growing distracted due to the society's overly rigid structure; from infancy, all their education is fed into their brains through machines, and they are not allowed individuality or freedom of thought. Chochem sadly notes that he had seen this coming "for centuries", and states that the only way to help the children is to allow them to have freedom, to be allowed to have fun. To do this, they need a Santa Claus figure, like on Earth. Leaving the sage's dwelling, the Martian leaders decide to kidnap Santa Claus from Earth and bring him to Mars to make toys for the children of their planet. One warmongering Martian, Voldar, is in constant disagreement with this idea and repeatedly tries to kill Santa Claus, as well as two kidnapped Earth children, as he believes that Santa is corrupting the children of Mars and turning them away from the race's original glory. Throughout the movie, Santa Claus makes several jokes to the kidnapped children, laughing to himself and met with silence. He then slowly laughs in disappointment each time.

When they arrive on Mars, Santa and the children build a factory to make toys for the Martian children. However, Voldar and his assistants, Stobo and Shim, sabotage the factory and change the programming so that it makes the toys incorrectly. Meanwhile, Dropo, a Martian who has been acting silly ever since Santa came to Mars, puts on one of Santa's spare suits and starts talking and acting like Santa Claus. He goes to the toy factory to make toys, but Voldar mistakes him for Santa Claus and kidnaps him. When Santa and the children come back to the factory to make more toys, they discover that the machine has been tampered with. Voldar and Stobo come back to the factory to make a deal with Kimar, but when they see the real Santa Claus in the factory they realize that their plan has been foiled. Dropo, held hostage in a cave, tricks Shim, who was guarding him, and escapes. Kimar then arrests Voldar, Stobo and Shim. Santa notices that Dropo is acting like him, and says that Dropo would make a good Martian Santa Claus. Kimar agrees to make Dropo a Santa Claus on Mars and sends Santa and the children back to earth.

Warning from Space or Mysterious Satellite (Uchūjin Tokyo ni arawaru? Spacemen Appear in Tokyo) is a 1956 science fiction tokusatsu film produced by Daiei, and the first Japanese science-fiction film produced in color. The plot of the American English-dubbed version is somewhat similar to Toho's later Gorath (Yosei Gorasu) (1962), depicting a planet — "Planet 'R'" — on a collision course with Earth. Warning from Space has one-eyed, starfish-shaped aliens from the planet Paira who take on human forms to warn the earth about the impending disaster. In contrast to the usual anti-nuclear message of the Japanese science-fiction film genre, Warning from Space seemingly takes the position that nuclear weapons can be put to good use, as a means to prevent the collision with Planet 'R.'

The Pairan aliens were designed by prominent avant-garde artist, Taro Okamoto. Walt Lee reports that Gentaro Nakajima's novel, on which this film was based, was in turn based on the Japanese folktale Kaguya-hime. However, it is difficult to see much connection between the film and the folktale.

Produced during the science-fiction boom following in the wake of the success of Toho's Godzilla (1954), Daiei had hoped to find a foreign market for Warning from Space. The film played at the King Cinema in Rangoon in January 1958, earning 11,846 kyat during its first week. However Daiei was unable to find an international distributor for the film until American International purchased it for U.S. TV about 1965.

Prehistoric Women is a 1950 science fiction, adventure film, written and directed by Gregg C. Tallas and starring Laurette Luez and Allan Nixon. Released by Alliance Productions this independent film was also titled The Virgin Goddess. Prehistoric Women is seemingly influenced by and is similar to One Million B.C. (1940).

Tigri (Luez) and her stone age friends, all of which are women, hate all men. However, she and her Amazon tribe see men as a "necessary evil" and capture them for potential husbands. Engor (Nixon), who is smarter than the rest of the men, is able to escape them. He discovers fire and battle enormous beasts. After he is recaptured by the women, he discovers fire and drives off a dragon-like creature. The women are impressed with him, including their prehistoric queen. Engor marries Tigri and they begin a new, more civilized, tribe.

Plan 9 from Outer Space is a 1959 science fiction/horror film written, produced and directed by Edward D. Wood, Jr. The film stars Gregory Walcott, Mona McKinnon, Tor Johnson and Maila "Vampira" Nurmi. The film also claims to posthumously star Bela Lugosi through use of archive footage, although Lugosi's character is primarily portrayed by chiropractor Tom Mason.

The plot of the film is focused on a race of extraterrestrial beings who are seeking to stop humans from creating a doomsday weapon that would destroy the universe. In the course of doing so, the aliens implement "Plan 9", a scheme to resurrect earth's dead as zombies to get the planet's attention, causing chaos.

By merit of its writing, unconvincing special effects, and multiple production errors visible in the final version of the film, Plan 9 from Outer Space is sometimes regarded as a leading candidate for the title of "worst movie ever made." It has also earned Edward D. Wood, Jr. a posthumous Golden Turkey Award as the worst director ever.

The Thing from Another World is a 1951 science fiction film which tells the story of an Air Force crew and scientists at a remote Arctic research outpost who fight a malevolent alien being. It stars Kenneth Tobey (Capt Patrick Hendry), Margaret Sheridan (Nikki Nicholson), Robert Cornthwaite (Dr. Arthur Carrington) and Douglas Spencer (Ned Scott). James Arness appeared as The Thing, unrecognizable in costume and makeup. Oddly, no players are named during the otherwise-complete opening credits; the only cast credit is at the end (this was somewhat unusual in the 1950s).

The movie was loosely adapted by Charles Lederer from the 1938 novella "Who Goes There?" by John W. Campbell, Jr. (originally published under the pseudonym Don A. Stuart). It was directed by Howard Hawks (uncredited) and Christian Nyby for Hawks' Winchester Pictures, which released it through RKO Radio Pictures Inc..

The film took advantage of the national feelings of the time to help enhance the horror elements of the story. The film's release in 1951 coincided with the Korean War and the upswing in anti-communist feelings brought on by McCarthyism. The idea of Americans being stalked by a force which was single of mind and "devoid of morality" fit in well with the parallel feelings of the day on communism. Equally the film reflected a post-Hiroshima scepticism about science and negative views of scientists who meddle with things better left alone. In the end, it is American servicemen and sensible scientists who win the day over the monster.

Horrors Of Spider Island aka A Corpse Hangs in the Web is the literal translation of Ein Toter hing im Netz, title of a West German sci-fi film subsequently dubbed and released in the United States as an adult-only feature titled It's Hot In Paradise and later in a slightly edited version called Horrors of Spider Island) is a 1960 film directed by Fritz Böttger. The film is about giant spiders terrorizing plane crash survivors that consist of a talent agent and seven gorgeous girls.

PLOT: The movie begins with a scene in the talent office in New York City, where girls try out for a job in a nightclub in Singapore by dancing for Gary, the talent agent. Some are chosen (including one who strips in the office), and others rejected before they start their journey to Singapore with Gary. While flying over the Pacific Ocean, they are involved in a horrific plane crash subsequent to their plane spontaneously splitting in half and falling into the sea while spewing fire. Miraculously, all but the pilot survive and get in a life raft. After five days at sea with no food and little water, they spot land. Gary literally drags the helpless females onto the beach. He discovers a waterfall, but only lets the severely dehydrated girls drink out of it for a minute before taking them into the island to search for signs of life. On the way, they discover "a hammer, with a long handle...probably for excavating some metal, most likely uranium!" as the precious mineral excavation specialist Gary puts it.

Soon after they find a cabin, and inside to their horror is a man hanging from (really standing behind) a gigantic spider web. By the next scene the man disappears and Gary and the girls move into the cabin. Next there are a few scenes involving most of the girls putting some type of move on Gary, to which he responds, "The heat, I can't think straight anymore!" He then proceeds out onto the island where he is bitten by the giant spider, turning himself into some type of spider-man beast. Note: The spider has opposable thumbs. The girls hear gunshots from the cabin, but can't find Gary. The next day he kills one of the girls, and she screams (It can be heard plainly.). They begin to get scared, and two have a lengthy wrestling match in the cabin while wearing little clothing. Soon a couple men show up on the island in a small rowboat (who knows how they got to the deserted island in the middle of the Pacific with just a rowboat?) to help the professor with research. Even though the professor is dead, they are not disappointed, as they have their choice of 6 scantily clad, desperate girls. Joe cannot make up his mind, and tries his luck (and is successful) with most of them. Bob has his sights set on Ann, a girl from Minnesota. One thing leads to another, Joe and one of the girls are killed by Gary, and they finally figure out that "the only thing that will destroy him is fire!" This is basically the end of the movie, as Gary is chased into quicksand, sinks, and dies. A ship comes the next day to save the rest of the living.

PLOT: It’s year the 2003. Communism has won worldwide and humankind, freed from oppression and chaos, is engaged in gigantic engineering projects - irrigation of the Sahara, the construction of a hydro-energetic plant over the Strait of Gibraltar and the ability to control the climate. The latest project is to thaw the Antarctic and Arctic regions by artificial nuclear-powered “suns” circling above.

During the preparation of earthworks in the Tunguska area a strange object is found and later identified as an extraterrestrial data record. The record contains details about the travel of the cosmic ship from Venus (crashing in Tunguska) and the data ends with an ominous message: “After two rotations the Earth will be radiated. After the radiation intensity drops to half, the Great Movement will commence”. Scared, the government of the Earth (consisting of scientists) decides to send the newly built cosmic ship Kosmokrator (equipped with vacuum tube based computer Marax) to Venus.

After a few weeks the international crew of Kosmokrator arrives on Venus but finds no traces of life, only strange, half-destroyed technological structures like White Globe, a giant anti-gravity device.

It turns out that Venus was inhabited by a warlike civilization planning to occupy the Earth. Before they managed to destroy the life on Earth they themselves perished in nuclear civil war, leaving only ruins of the cities and scattered electronic records.

The film is set in 1956, a year before the first satellite, Sputnik I went into orbit. In the film, "Project Skyhook," a U.S. effort to launch a dozen satellites, is visited by a flying saucer. A misunderstanding leads to the aliens being fired on, and they respond by immediately attacking in retaliation. The sequence of events quickly spirals out of control and leads to a full scale invasion. Flying saucers attack Washington, DC, Paris, London and Moscow. In the end, the alien saucers are defeated over the skies of Washington by a device using high-power sound.

Ray Harryhausen animated the saucers in this movie. That may be considered easier than animating dolls for the usual monsters, but he also animated all the stones of the buildings they crashed into in this picture so that the action would appear realistic. Some figure animation was used to show the aliens emerging from the saucers. A considerable amount of stock footage was also used, notably scenes during the invasion which showed batteries of US 90 mm M3 guns and an early rocket launch, presumably standing in for the recently introduced Nike Ajax missile.

The voice of the aliens was produced from a recording of Paul Frees reading the lines by jiggling the speed control of a reel-to-reel tape recorder so that it continually wavered from a slow bass voice to one high and fast.

During a question and answer period at a tribute to Harryhausen and a screening of Jason and the Argonauts in Sydney, Australia. Harryhausen said he sought advice from George Adamski on the depiction of the flying saucers in the film, but felt that Adamski grew increasingly paranoid as time went on.

PLOT: The founder and owner of a large cosmetics company, Janice Starlin (Susan Cabot), is disturbed when her firm's sales begin to drop after it becomes apparent to her customer base that she is aging. Scientist Eric Zinthrop (Michael Mark) has been able to extract enzymes from the royal jelly of the queen wasp that can reverse the aging process. Starlin agrees to fund further research, at great cost, provided she can serve as his human subject. Displeased with the slowness of the results she breaks into the scientist's laboratory after hours and injects herself with extra doses of the formula.

Zinthrop becomes aware that some of the test creatures are becoming violent and goes to warn Janice but before he can reach anyone he gets into a car accident. He is thus temporarily missing and Janice goes through great trouble to find him, eventually managing and then transferring his care to herself. Janice continues her clandestine use of the serum and sheds twenty years' in a single weekend, but soon discovers that she is periodically transformed into a murderous queen wasp.

Director Corman was clearly influenced by Kurt Neumann's 1958 film The Fly. The Wasp Woman has the head and hands of a wasp but the body of a woman -- exactly the opposite of the creature shown in the film's poster. In Jack Hill's prologue we see a slightly mad Dr. Zinthrop fired from his job at a honey farm for experimenting with wasps.

PLOT: The movie starts off with Dr. Fred Steel (Umberto Orsini) and Eve Barnett's (Maya Brent) budding love which is quickly put on hold as the scientists learn they must deal with a seemingly possessed planet coined "the outsider". An old, rebellious professor (Claude Rains), living in an adjacent greenhouse with his dog Gidian, comes to terms with his aversion toward the rest of the observatory staff and begrudgingly agrees to help stop "the outsider" from destroying the Earth. Meanwhile, a military base on Mars encounters the stray planet on its approach to Earth, and Commander Robert Cole and his wife quickly travel to the island outpost from Mars to help with the effort.

The phantom planet makes its way to an orbit around Earth and begins to create hurricanes and storms, and the beginning of the end appears to be near. Invited by the United Nations, Professor Benson comes out of his greenhouse and retirement in order to join a group of aimless and inexperienced scientists deal with the seemingly possessed planet. What the scientists find as they arrive on the planet is not what they (or the audience for that matter) expected!

PLOT: In the Florida Everglades, a colony of larger-than-human-size, intelligent leeches is living in an underwater cave. They begin dragging local people down to their cave where they hold them prisoner and slowly drain them of blood.

One of the first people to be so taken is the local vixen, Liz Walker, played by Yvette Vickers . After a couple of gratuitous displays of flesh (Yvette appeared as the centerfold in the July, 1959 issue of Playboy.), and some running around on her husband (Bruno VeSota), Liz finds herself a prisoner of the leeches along with her current paramour. Game warden Steve Benton (Ken Clark) sets out to investigate their disappearance. Aided by his girlfriend Nan Grayson (Jan Sheppard) and her father, Doc Grayson, he discovers the cavern.

The giant leeches are unrealistically portrayed by men in rubber suits, but they do provide suitably disgusting scenes when attacking their victims. The monsters are finally destroyed when Steve, Doc, and some state troopers blow up the cavern with dynamite.

The Amazing Transparent Man is a 1960 science fiction film starring Marguerite Chapman. It is an American B-movie which follows the story of an escaped criminal who uses an invisibility serum to escape. It was one of two sci-fi films shot back to back by director Edgar G. Ulmer (the other being Beyond the Time Barrier). The combined filming schedule for both films was only two weeks.

The film has received very poor reviews and has suffered in popularity as a result of its low budget. Leading science fiction author David Wingrove commented in his Science Fiction Source Book that "its cheap-budget origins show throughout. "Amazing" claims too much for what is essentially a thriller involving an escaped criminal..."

PLOT: Paul Krenner (James Griffith), a former major, forces scientist Peter Ulof (Ivan Triesault) to develop a radiation-based technique capable of making people invisible. He proposes to use this technique for military purposes and to develop a method of making an army invisible which he would be able to sell to the highest bidder. In order to secure sufficient radium to continue the experiments he helps Joey Faust (Douglas Kennedy) to escape from prison and forces him to undergo the invisibility treatment so that he can steal more. However Fraust has different ideas and uses his new found invisibility for his own ends.

A 1964 film based upon the Richard Matheson novel I Am Legend. The film was directed by Ubaldo Ragona and Sidney Salkow. The star was Vincent Price. The film was written in part by Matheson, but he was dissatisfied with the result and was credited as "Logan Swanson". William Leicester, Furio M. Monetti, and Ubaldo Ragona were the other writers.

It was originally filmed in Italy, and was later released theatrically in the United States by American International Pictures in. It has since fallen into the public domain. MGM Home Video, the current owners of the AIP film catalog released a digitally remastered widescreen print in September 2005.

PLOT: In the year 1968, every day is the same for Dr. Robert Morgan (Vincent Price). He wakes up, gathers his weapons and then literally goes vampire hunting. Morgan lives in a world where everyone else has been infected by a new disease that turns them into vampire-like creatures. They cannot stand sunlight, fear mirrors and garlic. They would kill Morgan if they could, but fortunately, they are weak and not too smart. At night, Morgan locks himself inside his house listening to jazz on the hi fi, and in the morning, he kills as many as he can, destroying the bodies.

Then one day, he meets a beautiful woman named Ruth Collins (Franca Bettoia), who seems to be disease-free. Overjoyed at the sight of another human being (Morgan's wife died from the disease years ago), he takes her home with him. He becomes suspicious when he finds she is repelled by garlic. He then catches her trying to inject herself with some sort of serum. Ruth explains that she is infected, but the serum keeps the disease at bay temporarily. There are others like her, trying to rebuild civilization. They fear him, because some of those he killed were still alive. She confesses that she was sent to distract him; the others plan to kill him that very night.

Morgan is filled with regret at his actions, and vows to cure her. He is immune to the disease for some unknown reason. He wonders if it may be due to a bite he received from a bat in his younger days. The bat's biological defenses may have weakened the disease enough before passing it on, resulting in his immunity. Whatever the reason, when he gives Ruth some of his blood, her symptoms instantly disappear. At last, a cure has been found. But before they can do anything about it, Ruth's people arrive, chase Morgan into a church and murder him in front of the altar, killing the last true man on Earth.

The Galaxy Invader [1985]

The Galaxy Invader is a 1985 sci-fi movie directed and co written by Don Dohler. And was used as the intro to another 80's movie, Pod People, for some odd reason, on the TV show Mystery Science Theater 3000 during the Joel episodes. The monster in the films if you will looks like the Creature from the Black Lagoon but is shown to have light up eyes on the VHS and DVD covers like Jawas

In the intro which is orchestrated with a background Synth Soundtrack a glowing object which seems to be a meteor careens toward the earth. A young man that sees it is narrowly missed by it as it flounders completely unlike a meteorite over his car heading back towards the sky and then into the forest ahead of him. A couple hears a noise in their basement and goes down to see what it is they are surprised and cheesily wrestled to the ground by the Green Monster Known as the Galaxy Invader

Killers from Space is a 1954 science fiction film, directed by W. Lee Wilder and starring Peter Graves.

The movie was shot on a very low budget with an unknown cast and crude special effects, and often appears on lists of the worst movies of all times. The director, W. Lee Wilder, was the brother of Billy Wilder. Killers from Space was featured in a 2004 documentary film, The 50 Worst Movies Ever Made.

The film is now in the public domain and can be downloaded from the Internet Archive.

In 2002, this movie was redubbed and turned into a parody movie called Don't Ask, Don't Tell.

The Film Crew, comprised of former MST3K alumni Michael J. Nelson, Kevin Murphy, and Bill Corbett, released their riffed version of the movie on DVD in August, 2007 through Shout Factory.

PLOT: Dr. Douglas Martin is a scientist working on an atomic energy project. While flying over Soledad Flats his plane crashes. He survives unhurt except for a strange scar on his chest.

At the hospital, he has amnesia does not remember what happened. He acts so strange that the doctors bring in the FBI, thinking he may be an imposter. He is cleared, but told to take some time off.

Dr. Martin reads in a newspaper about atomic tests at Soledad Flats. He steals some papers about the atomic test, goes back to Soledad Flats and puts them under a stone. He is chased by a guard, crashes the car, captured and given truth serum back at the hospital. He tells a story about being captured by space aliens from Astron Delta, who have giant bugs at their disposal. The aliens have big eyes like hard boiled eggs.

He remembers under the truth serum that one of the space aliens told him to steal the papers and "bring them to the stone." The doctors and military men think he is nuts.

Dr. Martin does some calculations and determines that if he shuts off the power to Soledad Flats for ten seconds it will destroy the aliens' equipment. So he goes to the electrical power plant serving the area and forces the attendant to turn off the power. This causes some kind of electrical problem that destroys the aliens and the monsters and saves the planet.

The Day of the Triffids is a 1962 British film adaptation of the science fiction novel of the same name by John Wyndham.

It was directed by Steve Sekely, and Howard Keel played the central character, Bill Masen. The movie was filmed in colour with monaural sound and ran for 93 minutes.

PLOT: Triffids are strange fictional plants, capable of rudimentary animal-like behavior: they are able to uproot themselves and walk, possess a deadly whip-like poisonous sting, and may even have the ability to communicate with each other. On screen they vaguely resemble gigantic asparagus shoots.

Bill Masen begins the story in hospital, with his eyes bandaged after having been stung by a Triffid. He discovers that while he has been blindfolded, an unusual meteor shower has blinded most people on Earth. Masen finds people in London struggling to stay alive in the face of their new, instantly-acquired affliction, some cooperating, some fighting: after just a few days society is collapsing.
